Volunteering

As the vision for Project Infant is quite expansive, we are always looking for volunteers.

What is available and what is involved?

There are two options when it comes to doing volunteering.

Transcriber: To make it easier for people to read the death entries for the mothers and infants in this database, a transcription is created and is part of the website. Here is an example.

Researcher: If you want to be a part of helping to uncover the names of the mothers and infants who died in mother and baby homes, this is for you. This will involve looking through death entries on Irish Genealogy and entering the data into a spreadsheet.

How long and how much do I have to do?

As long as you want to and as much as you want to. If you become a volunteer, fit it around your schedule.

Do I need any experience?

You’ll be using the Irish Genealogy site but if you don’t know how to use it, let me know in the message/email you send me and I’ll help to explain it all!

How do I get started?

Get in contact with me here and on the drop-down menu, select “I want to volunteer”. Either that or send me an email using the address on the same page!
